Persons arrested for waste dumping

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Several persons who were caught illegally throwing trash in public places around the city were apprehended by the city government.

Through the directive of Mayor Vilma Caluag, personnel from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office issued violation tickets to litterbugs and polluters in the city.

This operation is in accordance with City Ordinance No. 2002-02 or the Solid Waste Management Ordinance of San Fernando.

Under the said ordinance, persons apprehended for violating the environment laws may face penalties and fines ranging from P500 to P2,500 depending on the number of offenses they committed.

Violators will also face community service and/or imprisonment of 1-15 days.

Apprehended individuals are educated on the importance of properly managing their solid waste in line with the City’s environmental preservation programs.

The CENRO warned the residents and business establishments of the city government’s strict enforcement of the ordinance.

The local environment office also cited heavier penalties and fines violators may face if proven to be violating the Solid Waste Management laws.
