CITY OF SAN FERNANDO The Philippine National Police (PNP) urged the public to celebrate the New Year safely and orderly.

The national police reminded Filipinos to steer away from the use of firecrackers, especially illegal ones, to prevent injuries.

The public is advised to use light and sound makers such as glowsticks, trumpets, and kitchenwares, among others.

“We once again appeal to the public to refrain from using illegal firecrackers to avoid any injuries. Instead of firecrackers, we could all welcome the New Year with other forms of merriment,” said Police Regional Office III director Brigadier General Cesar Pasiwen.

The PNP designated a total of 225 firecracker zones across the region where people can light up their firecrackers.

It also bared the list of fireworks allowed for use including Butterfly, Bawang, Fountain, El Diablo, Luces, Judas' Belt, Mabuhay, Paper Caps, Roman Candle, Pulling of Strings, Sparklers, Sky Rocket (Kwitis), Trompillo, Small "Triangulo", Whistle devices, and all kinds of pyrotechnic devices.
