Rains destroy 268-M worth of crops

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO The damages to agriculture caused by the recent downpour of rains have reached more than ?268-million.

This was gleaned in the final report of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office yesterday morning.

The total cost of damages to rice crops amounted to 268,383,665.68.

The municipality of Candaba registered the highest amount of destroyed crops at 168,213,734.61; followed by San Simon town with 31,896,960.00; and Apalit with 29,876,224.00.

San Luis also logged 26,443,210.21 worth of damages, while Sta. Ana had 3,042,855.00; and Arayat had 3,042,855.00.

Lubao’s damages to rice crops amounted to 1,683,000.00; while Magalang posted 1,596,284.80 damages; and Mexico had 1,294,744.80.

The PDRRMO reported that flood waters in several areas in the province already subsided as of yesterday.
