San Simon gets new mobile clinic

A BRAND new mobile clinic is all set to roam around and provide free medical services to residents of this town.

Mayor Abundio Punsalan, Jr. personally presented the mobile clinic which offers services such as adult, pediatric, and ob-gyne consultation, minor surgery, pre-employment physical examination, and annual physical examination.

Various laboratory tests such as x-ray, blood chemistry, complete blood count, urinalysis, ultrasound and Covid-19 test kits can also be availed at the medical facility.

Punsalan said the mobile clinic was procured by the local government amounting to some P11-million through the 2021 Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU) under the Office of the President.

He said he made the request to former President Rodrigo Duterte amid the ongoing pandemic to ensure that healthcare needs of Simonians will be attended.

“Masaya tayo na bago bumaba si President Duterte ay napagbigyan tayo at ito ngayon ay iikot sa mga bara-barangay natin para magbigay ng serbisyong pangkalusugan sa ating mga kabalen,” he said.

Punsalan furthered that the mobile clinic will surely boost the local government’s health program while waiting for the full operation of the newly-constructed San Simon Community Hospital.

The community hospital is expected to operation by next year pending the procurement of necessary medical equipment.

For the meantime, Punsalan said the mobile clinic will be visiting the 14 barangays of this town on a scheduled basis to provide free medical services.

Vice Mayor Romanoel “Dading” Santos, for his part, expressed optimism that the mobile clinic will be of big benefit to Simonians.

“Alam ko kung gaano kailangan at kalaking bagay ang matitipid ng mga kabalen sa libreng laboratory services kaya pakikinabangan talaga ng Simonians itong proyekto na ito,” he said.

A medical technologist by profession, Santos has been providing free laboratory services to Simonians at his farm in Barangay Sta. Monica.

He said the procurement of the mobile clinic will boost his program which he initially launched through personal capacity.

“Dati marami na kaming natutulungan sa personal ko palang na programa kaya sigurado ako na mas marami pang Simonians ang mapagseserbisyuhan nitong mobili clinic,” he said.
