GUAGUA -- Non-government organizations, police, government workers and a throng of sectoral representatives joined in this year’s recent 30th Alay Lakad which aimed to gather support for the education of those in the youth sector.

Village officials and other civic leaders also joined in the walk-for-a-cause which started at 4:30 in the morning. The foundation and the Municipal Government of Guagua host the yearly Alay Lakad to raise funds and awareness on the importance of the scholarship program.

Mayor Dante Torres said the event also presents an opportunity for all sectors to work together for the education of the underprivileged youth of Guagua.

He added that the event forms linkages with the private sector and non-government groups for possible areas of cooperation on issues and programs for the town.

Torres said the Alay Lakad 2020 had brought more participants especially in the youth and civic sector.

He added that since its institutionalization in 1992, the Alay Lakad Foundation has been able to send students to finish technical and vocational courses.
