THE intense rainshower coupled with lighting and thunder experienced in Pampanga on Wednesday afternoon has left destruction in various areas in the province.

According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), reports of fallen trees, electric posts, washed out houses and damaged public facilities were logged by their office on Thursday morning.

Fallen branches and uprooted trees were reported by local DDRMOs in several areas in the City of San Fernando, Porac, Sta. Rita, Apalit and Minalin towns, while fallen electric posts were reported in Masantol town.

The fallen trees along the Mexico portion of North Luzon Expressway have also caused heavy traffic on its northbound section.

Meanwhile in Macabebe town, houses made out of light materials in Barangay San Gabriel were washed out, while classrooms at Sapang Malalam Elementary School and Macabebe High School were slightly damaged.

The PDRRMO said the local DRRMOs are now assessing the actual extent and cost of the damages left by the thunderstorm in the province.

Local DRRMOs are also instructed to remain on alert, to continuously monitor the situation and extend necessary assistance to affected areas as soon as possible.
