THE planned killing of a Pampanga-based businessman was not executed after the sniper assassin missed his shots four times.

Jeffrey Singian Dizon of Barangay Pandan, Angeles City and eldest son of founder Tomas Dizon of Saint Catherine Realty Corporation, claimed during a press conference in Clark Freeport on Saturday, March 8, that he was the target of the shooting which transpired at around 6 p.m. on February 29, 2020.

Based on police investigations, the businessman said the shots came from across the street near a gated subdivision.

"An unkown gunman shot me while I was at home but missed. The bullet instead hit the concrete wall near where I was standing at the time. I was clearly the target of the shooting. The only reason the shot missed was because I was moving around talking on the phone with friend," Dizon said.

According to the businessman, he has no idea who is behind the assassination attempt against him.

"I do not know who is trying to kill me and I do not have any enemies," he added.

Dizon admitted a "business dispute" between him and his family but he did not name his siblings as suspects.

"Right now, the only possible dispute I have concerns a business matter involving the family corporation. To be clear, I cannot believe that any of my siblings are involved in any plot to have me exterminated," Dizon said.

"I have no suspect at the moment. I am not accusing anyone. I am just stating facts and events that transpired," he added.

Dizon offered a P3 million cash reward to anyone who can provide information regarding the identity of the sniper or gunman including the accomplices and masterminds.

At the same time, the businessman appealed to the media to follow his story.

"Please help me, I don't want to die. They will kill us all," Dizon said,

The Angeles City Police Station 3 concluded in its probe that the shots came from a rifle with caliber 5.56, possibly an M16 armalite, and the bullet came from an elevated area based on its trajectory.

"They (policemen) verbally concluded that the shots appear to come from the direction of the house of my two siblings and my mother," Dizon stated.

The businessman asked his fellow Kapampangan to pray for him and his family.

"I am appealing to my countrymen and the general public, particularly to my fellow Kapampangan to please pray for me and my family because our lives are in danger," Dizon said.

WHERE’S THE WATER? Water is sparse at the Jaclupan wellfield in Talisay City in this photo provided by the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) on Friday, April 26, 2024. Completed in 1998, MCWD’s Jaclupan facility, officially known as the Mananga Phase I Project, catches, impounds and pumps out around 30,000 cubic meters of water per day under normal circumstances. However, on Friday, MCWD spokesperson Minerva Gerodias said the facility’s daily production had plummeted to 8,000 cubic meters per day, or just about a quarter of its normal capacity, as Cebu grapples with the effects of the drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to persist until the end of May. The facility supplies water to consumers in Talisay City and Cebu City. /
