Village chief readies 6,000 relief packs for Fernandinos

THE newly-elected Liga ng mga Barangay president, Barangay Dolores captain Vilma Caluag, has prepositioned some 6,000 relief packs for flood victims in the City of San Fernando to be distributed over the weekend.

Caluag said the relief packs will not just be distributed in Barangay Dolores but in the entire 35 barangays of the City of San Fernando.

The relief packs contain canned goods, noodles and rice. Volunteers from among Caluag's political supporters and team helped pack the relief goods.

"We will be prioritizing barangays which are heavily flooded," Caluag told reporters, stressing that the funds used for the purchase of the relief goods came from her personal money. She added that the move is her way of helping barangays and their officials. She added that it is part of her commitment as president of the Liga ng mg Barangays to help other barangays in times of need.

Caluag added that they have grown accustomed to preparing relief goods during times of calamities to help their barangay. As of press time, some barangay officials have already asked Caluag for relief support for their flooded constituents.
