Viray: Regionalism is bad

Atty. Atlee T. Viray

I WILL not vote for a Pampagueño who is running for president.

I will not vote for a Pampagueño who is running for Vice President.

I am against regionalism.

I don’t believe in Solid North.

I don’t believe in Solid South.

Every Filipino should think of the nation, not the region as the basis of his selection.

It is immaterial if Leni was from Bicol (Naga). It is irrelevant if Isko comes from Manila, it is not important if Pacman comes from Gensan. It is an accident that Ping calls Cavite, his hometown. Bongbong traces his roots from Ilocos Norte but this should not be a factor when the Ilocanos vote.

We have long been divided by factions. We should not think of regionalism when we go to polls.

Tito Sotto is from Nueva Ecija. Sara Duterte is from Davao City. Kiko traces his roots from Santo Tomas, Pampanga. Lito Atienza is from Manila. Their birthplace should merit no consideration when we select the Vice President of the country.

The President and Vice President of the Philippines are to serve the whole constituency of the country, not a portion thereof.

We should emphasize nationalism, not factionalism.
