A 35-YEAR-OLD overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is the first confirmed Delta variant case in Dagupan, Pangasinan.

The city's Public Information Office (PIO), in a statement on Sunday, August 29, said the asymptomatic patient will have a repeat reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test, along with immediate family members, Monday, August 30.

The OFW first tested positive for coronavirus on July 31 in Manila and remained positive in another test in Dagupan on August 12. She left the isolation facility on August 18 before the result of the genome sequencing test was released.

"The patient was allowed to go home, as it was not considered infectious anymore since 10 days elapsed after the first result came out," the PIO said.

Dagupan still has 487 active Covid-19 cases as of August 29, while 2,144 have recovered out of the total 2,731 infected. (PNA)
