Gianunsyo sa Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) kagahapon, Hunyo 13, 2021 nga si Baldwin maoy mogiya sa Gilas alang sa 3rd window sa 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers ug FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

“I have accepted the opportunity and the challenge to be Gilas’ head coach at this time. I am honored to continue working with this outstanding coaching staff as we strive to take these next steps forward in the direction we envision for 2023,” pamahayag ni Baldwin, kinsa mao sab ang program director sa SBP.

Si Baldwin, kinsa usa ka respetadong coach sa international basketball, migiya sa Gilas sa silver-medal finish sa FIBA Asia Championship ug William Jones Cup niadtong 2015.

Sa samang tuig, natunolan ni Baldwin og gold medal ang Gilas sa Southeast Asia Games.

“I’m hoping that my international coaching experience and familiarity with our playing systems will be an additional asset to the team in the upcoming challenges the team is facing,” dugang ni Baldwin.

Sa wala pa siya gikuha sa SBP aron mogiya sa Gilas niadtong 2014, si Baldwin nag-coach una sa nagkadaiyang mga nasod sama sa New Zealand, Lebanon, ug Jordan.

Si Baldwin maoy ikatulong modala sa Gilas sa Fiba Asia qualifiers sunod nila ni Mark Dickel sa first window ug Jong Uichico sa second window.

Masaligon si Baldwin nga ang batan-ong puwersa sa Gilas nga pangulohan nila ni Angelo Kouame, Dwight Ramos, Isaac Go, ug Kai Sotto makahatag og maayong performance.

“The players are responding very well to the system and to each other. Bumps along the road are inevitable due to their youth and relative lack of experience, but these could be double-edged swords too,” batbat ni Baldwin. “I know that when push comes to shove, these men will not only move forward, but more importantly, they will rise up because of the energy, athleticism, and determination granted to them by their youth.”

Sa 3rd window, ang Gilas makigbatok sa South Korea karong Hunyo 16 ug 20, 2021 sa Clark, Pampanga ug batok sa Indonesia karong Hunyo 19, 2021.
