1 dead, 23 injured after 2 SAF vehicles fell off cliff in Northern Samar

AT LEAST one Special Action Force (SAF) commando died and 23 others, including two former rebels who served as guide, were injured after their two vehicles fell off a cliff in Las Navas, Northern Samar Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

In the information released by the Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas, it said that one of the vehicles lost its brake and bumped with the other police truck in front of it past midnight of Wednesday.

As a result of the impact, both drivers lost control of their vehicles and plunge into a cliff in Barangay Dolores, Las Navas.

Killed on the spot was Patrolman John Carlo Tahitit.

The injured SAF troopers were identified as Lieutenant Domique Garcia Ordonio, team leader; Corporals Jerry Sendo and Antoine John Escosia; and Patrolmen Roel Catalbas, Jescel Mark Echem, Elfon Jay Violeta, Joseph Lalino, Raymart Bernard Tacudog, Jerone Crisostomo Ejurango, Muhammad Zulfikhar Anday, Archie Bolon, Oliver Ardoña, Pedro Sally, Leonel Eborda, Polibert Castañeda, Jordan Sabiano, Melrich Daba, James Royd Galido, Cominso Magsaysay, Nikko Cordada, and Clifford Felipe Repollo.

Also injured were two former male members of the New People Army onboard the vehicles.

The police personnel were brought to the hospital for immediate medical attention. (SunStar Philippines)
