1 dead in Tacloban motor collision

AT LEAST one passenger was dead after two motorcycles collided in Tacloban City Monday evening, June 10.

Authorities identified the victim as Mateo Versoza, legal age, and a resident of Barangay 48-B Esperas Avenue in the city.

He was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dra. Kristine Nicole Cabalona of Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVRMC).

Police said the traffic incident happened at 6:15 p.m. along Barangay Cabalawan when a Suzuki Jitney driven by Jimmy Lego, 38, with passenger Versoza and Rusi motorcycle driven by Jessie Simborio, 18, had head-on collision after the latter encroached the opposite lane.

Both drivers were brought to the hospital for medical treatment.

In an initial report, police found out that Simborio doesn’t have a valid driver’s license.
