2 busted over 'shabu' in Ormoc, Catbalogan

POLICE and anti-narcotic agents arrested two suspects for alleged selling and possession of shabu in separate operations in Ormoc City and Catbalogan City Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

In Barangay San Pablo, Ormoc, police identified the suspect as 47-year-old truck driver Dante Leoveras.

Purchased from him were 10 sachets believed to be containing suspected shabu, while confiscated from his possession were the buy-bust money, six sachets of suspected shabu, P22,665 cash, and other personal rtems.

Sniffer K9 Unit Ormoc City led by K9 supervisor Loyd Anthony Yamson also said the sniffing dog was able to locate three sachets of suspected shabu, a red improvised scooper, and aluminum foil strip inside the dump truck.

Meanwhile, operatives arrested a 28-year-old drug surrenderer named Joseph Jazmines in Barangay 3, Catbalogan.

Purchased from the suspect was one sachet believed to be containing suspected shabu worth P500.

Authorities also confiscated from his possession and control were four sachets of suspected shabu, P500 with serial number HKO29685 used as buy-bust money, and other personal items.

The markings and inventory of confiscated pieces of evidence were witnessed by representatives from the barangay, Department of Justice, and the media, police said in the report.

The suspects will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
