3 nabbed for illegal cockfighting

THREE persons were arrested during two separate illegal cockfighting activities in Biliran and Leyte provinces Sunday, November 29, 2020.

In Almeria, Biliran, police identified the two violators as farmers aged 56 and 39.

Personnel from Almeria Municipal Police Station, led by Lieutenant Edwin Simbajon, confiscated from their possession and control one fighting cock.

In Abuyog, Leyte, police also arrested a 51-year-old farmer who engaged in illegal cockfighting. His six other companions have remained at large.

Operating unit from Abuyog Municipal Police Station, led by Captain Antonio Angcay Jr., recovered from the scene three fighting cocks, gaff and P500 bet money.

The violators were brought to police stations for the filing of charges in relation to Presidential Decree 449 or the Cockfighting Law. (SunStar Philippines)
