Biliran cops nab 8 in 'spider derby'

POLICE arrested on Sunday, November 22, 2020, eight persons for alleged illegal gambling over a spider fight in Biliran, Biliran.

The suspects were arrested around 12:50 p.m. Sunday in Sitio Pungtod, Barangay Bato, Biliran town.

Most of the suspects were construction workers, according to the police report.

Recovered from their control and possession were improvised fighting arena or rueda, six improvised plastic containers with 46 live spiders with estimated value of more or less P2,300, two sling bags and P550 bet money.

The arrested persons and recovered pieces of evidence were brought to Biliran Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition in violation for Presidential Decree 1602 (Illegal gambling-other forms). (SunStar Philippines)
