Cafgu member shoots soldier in Samar

A CIVILIAN Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) member shot a soldier in Calbiga, Samar on Wednesday, January 2.

The suspect, identified as Nelson Ocasla, 24, fired at Army Private Anthon Balledo, 23.

The suspect slightly hit the back portion of the victim’s head.

Balledo was rushed to the Eastern Visayas Medical Center in Tacloban City, 68 kilometers away from Calbiga.

Responding police from Calbiga Municipal Police Station arrested the suspect after the shooting incident.

Confiscated from the suspect was one unit of caliber .45 pistol loaded with seven live ammunition.

The victim is assigned at the 63rd Infantry Batallion-8th Infantry Division in San Jorge, Samar.

The suspect is assigned at 4th WESCAA in Barangay Botoc, Pinabacdao, Samar. He is a resident of P-4, Can-avid, Eastern Samar.

The suspect is now under the police custody, pending the filing of appropriate charges.
