Clash injures 1 army in Eastern Samar

ONE soldier from the 46th Infantry Battalion was injured Sunday, May 5, after an encounter with suspected communist terrorists in Maydolong, Eastern Samar.

Initial reports disclosed that the incident occurred around 7:50 a.m. at the army detachment in Barangay Lapgap of the said town.

Authorities only identified the wounded army as Corporal Amparo.

The enemy attacked from the northwest and may have withdrawn to the west, the army said.

The firefight lasted for two minutes.

Personnel from Maydolong Municipal Police Station also conducted follow-up investigation on the encounter. (SunStar Philippines)
