EASTERN Visayas has recorded a total of 5,053 cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), as 94 new infections were recorded from 1,002 laboratory samples tested on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.

The 94 new Covid-19 cases are from Tacloban City (14), Alang-alang (1), Albuera (1), Burauen (1), Dulag (1), Hindang (1), Palo (1), Tabon-tabon (3), Calbayog City (52), Catbalogan City (15), Jiabong (1), Maasin City (1) and San Francisco (2).

Most of the cases are close contacts, according to the laboratory results from Eastern Visayas Regional Covid-19 Testing Center and Divine Word Hospital Virology Laboratory in Tacloban City.

As of Tuesday evening, the total Covid-19 recoveries in the region is at 4,321 (85.51 percent), while the number of deaths is at 49 (0.97 percent). The total active cases are now at 683 (13.52 percent). (SunStar Philippines)
