Eastern Visayas police await repair of buildings after 'Tisoy'

Ronald O. Reyes

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Eastern Visayas is waiting for funding support for the repair of 15 municipal police stations damaged by Typhoon Tisoy (Kammuri), which hit the region on December 2, 2019.

"PRO-8 is expecting from its higher office to fast-track the release of funds for the immediate repair of said damaged infrastructures. Although this is an unfortunate event for Eastern Visayas, rest assured that this will not in any way hamper the delivery of service to the public," said Brigadier General Ferdinand Divina, police regional director.

Damage to police buildings is estimated at P1,006,000, said Lieutenant Colonel Ma. Bella Rentuaya, PRO-Eastern Visayas spokesperson.

Damaged by Tisoy are police stations in Northern Samar, particularly in Allen, San Isidro, Victoria, Mondragon, Rosario, Pambujan, San Jose, Gamay, San Roque, Mapanas, Bobon, Biri, Las Navas, the Northern Samar 1st Police Mobile Force Company, and the Northern Samar Provincial Police Office headquarters.

In Samar, the damaged municipal and city police stations are in Tarangnan and Catbalogan.

Rentuaya said most of the damage are on roofing, ceiling, scaffolding, painting, gutter, ridge roll, ceiling eaves, water line pipe, doors, windows, and roof deck areas.

Other police provincial offices have not reported damage to their structures. (SunStar Philippines)
