Election officer shot dead in Northern Samar

AN UNIDENTIFIED gunman shot and killed the municipal election officer of Lope de Vega, Northern Samar Thursday, November 18, 2021, police said in the report.

The victim was identified as James Diaz Maghanoy, 42, married, and a resident of Barangay Cawayan, Catarman, Northern Samar.

Initial investigation disclosed that Maghanoy was on his way home from Lope de Vega on board his motorcycle Yamaha Mio around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Upon reaching the national highway along Barangay Somoge in Catarman, the victim was shot by a still unknown suspect.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds on his head and body.

He was brought to Northern Samar Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
