Inmate escapes Biliran provincial jail

A PERSON deprived of liberty (PDL) escaped from Biliran Provincial Jail in Naval town Monday, December 6, 2021.

Authorities said Carmelito Abia, of legal age and resident of Kawayan, Biliran, bolted out from the detention area around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

He escaped by climbing through the back of the facility, police said.

Abia was facing the crime of rape through a sexual assault in relation to Anti-Child Abuse Law, also known as Republic Act 7610.

Authorities said the escapee is “armed and dangerous.”
