THE Philippine Army said they uncovered an alleged “Kangaroo Court” in Carigara, Leyte following the recent surrender of two “self-confessed members” and courier-spotter of its liquidation squad.

The suspected rebels, identified only as alias Jun and alias Kakay, also surrendered each a .45 caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with several ammunition.

Brigadier General Zosimo Oliveros, commander of Philippine Army’s 802nd Brigade, condemned the alleged “summary execution of victims without the benefit of a thorough and just investigation similar to the purging of their own members in the gruesome Inopacan massacre.”

In a statement, the military official described the said “Kangaroo Court” as “cruel and inhuman.”

The Army said the two former rebels were designated “without the benefit of any training and specific guidance on how to conduct the so-called ‘revolutionary justice system.’”

The surrenderers also disclosed their previous operations and the identities of some personalities whom they “handed down the death sentence.” (SunStar Philippines)
