Leyte municipal court worker shot dead

AN UNIDENTIFIED gunman onboard a sports utility vehicle (SUV) shot dead Friday, September 27, a Municipal Trial Court employee in Alangalang, Leyte.

Authorities identified the victim as Cedric Jose Saavedra Ramos, 44, married, clerk of court II, and resident of Alangalang town.

Police said the shooting happened around 4:35 p.m. in Sitio Bonol, Barangay Binongtoan in Alangalang.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was driving his motorcycle on his way home when the assailant, who was onboard a white SUV Adventure, shot him several times.

The victim was hit in the different parts of his body.

He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Alangalang police are now conducting follow-up investigation to identify and arrest the gunman. (SunStar Philippines)
