NPA squad leader surrenders in Eastern Samar

A 27-YEAR-OLD alleged squad leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to authorities in Eastern Samar Monday, October 25, 2021.

Authorities identified the surrenderer as Alias Mitch, a resident of Gen. MacArthur town and a former leader of squad Uno of Apoy platoon, Sesame, which is operating in the mountainous areas from Lawaan to Borongan City and other neighboring towns of Eastern Samar.

The former rebel also turned in one caliber .38 revolver with defaced serial number, three caliber .38 live ammunition, eight 7.62 live ammunition, and other documents.

According to police, alias Mitch decided to return to the folds of law after a series of negotiations from the intelligence operatives of 2nd Eastern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company (ESPMFC), together with the Regional Special Operation Group 8, Naval Station Dioscoro Papa-Philippine Navy, and Provincial Special Operation Group of Eastern Samar Provincial Police Office.

The surrenderer has been placed under the custody of 2nd ESPMFC for the processing of his documents for him to avail the National Government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program. (SunStar Philippines)
