PNP relieves all Lapinig policemen over 'NPA attack'

ALL policemen of Lapinig town in Northern Samar were relieved following the attack by suspected communist rebels at the town's police station Friday, August 10.

The attack happened around 1:44 a.m. Friday and lasted for 15 minutes. Two policemen identified as Police Officer 2 Jerry Quilecol and Police Officer 1 Edizon Aguere were wounded.

Philippine National Police Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde ordered the relief of the Lapinig police personnel pending investigation on the incident.

Also ordered relieved were Northern Samar Provincial Director Romeo Campomanes, 2nd Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company Commander Chief Inspector Juan Byron, and Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas Director Mariel Magaway. (Ronald O. Reyes/SunStar Philippines)
