A SECURITY guard was shot dead by still unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen in Calbayog City, Samar Tuesday, July 30, 2019.

Authorities identified the victim as Gil Diaz, 57, married, a native of Barangay Rawis, Laoang, Northern Samar.

Police said the shooting incident happened around 8:25 a.m. at corner Cajurao and Pajarito Streets of Barangay Balud, Calbayog City.

Investigation revealed that while the victim was onboard a motorcycle driven by a Cesar Boran and on their way to buy food for lunch, the two gunmen onboard another motorcycle suddenly shot Diaz.

Diaz sustained a gunshot wound on his back. He was rushed to Our Lady of Porzioncula Hospital Inc. in Calbayog City for medical treatment.

The gunmen fled after the incident.

Police recovered one fired cartridge case of caliber .45 pistol.

Calbayog police are conducting hot pursuit operation against the gunmen.

Police have yet to identify the motive in the shooting. (SunStar Philippines)
