FOUR known artists in Tacloban City have unveiled their latest artwork depicting how the police are doing their job in Eastern Visayas.

Artists Dante Enage, Philip Salem, Archie Prisno and Clint Gonzales completed the mural at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Palo, Leyte after over a month of works.

The mural painting inside the camp shows policemen during disaster rescue, gift giving, and medical mission, among other police activities.

It also shows an image of President Rodrigo Duterte and some known tourist spots in the region.

Measuring 20x60ft, the painting was completely finished on July 4 after they started the coloring works on June 1.

Over 20 cans of paints were used to finish the mural, said Enage, the lead artist of the group.

According to Enage, the project is also their way of showing gratitude to the cops during their relief and rescue operation in the 2013 Super Typhoon Yolanda that claimed over 6,000 lives in Tacloban and nearby towns.

While he doesn’t support the killings of alleged drug suspects, Enage said that the police also deserved the credits for lessening the drug activities in the region after numerous areas in Eastern Visayas have already been declared “drug-free.”

Enage said that their latest work was commissioned by then PNP Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Gilberto Cruz.
