Woman, 74, killed in Leyte traffic collision

A 74-YEAR-OLD woman died on Thursday, January 2, after a car and a pedicab figured in a traffic collision in Jaro, Leyte.

Authorities identified the fatality as Angeles Dumayas, married, a resident of Barangay Sto. Niño, Jaro.

The pedicab driver was identified only as Lito. He was injured.

Police said the incident happened around 5:15 p.m. Thursday while the pedicab was crossing the road from Poblacion, Jaro towards Barangay Macopa. A black Hyundai Accent, driven by Ramon Brazil, 28, a resident of Barugo, Leyte, hit the pedicab.

Dumayas was rushed to the Jaro Rural Health Unit but she was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The pedicab driver was also rushed to the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Tacloban City for medical treatment.

Brazil, an employee of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology who is assigned in Calbayog City, Samar, voluntarily surrendered to Jaro Municipal Police Station. (SunStar Philippines)
