AN OFFICIAL of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said the agency, through the Negosyo Centers, is making headway in assisting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), aspiring businessmen and entrepreneurs in Zamboanga Peninsula.

Dr. Sitti Amina Jain, DTI regional director, said they have so far provided assistance, through the Negosyo Centers, to more than 22,000 MSMEs since January all over the region.

Jain said the establishment of the Negosyo Centers is aimed to bring closer the services of the DTI to its clientele.

Jain said they have also conducted over 1,000 training, which benefited more than 36,000 participants who are aspiring businessmen and entrepreneurs and have processed the registration of 10,687 business names.

The registration of a business name is a requirement in applying for a business permit.

Jain said that at present, there are 54 Negosyo Centers all over the region and the DTI envisions to establish a total of 72 centers by the end of 2020.

She said these centers accommodate those interested for business seminars, counseling for entrepreneur and would-be entrepreneurs, and those who are interested or wanted to ask about business, including business name registration. (SunStar Philippines)
