TWO people -- a militiaman and a security guard -- were arrested for violation of the election gun ban in Zamboanga Peninsula Region, the police reported Monday.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified those arrested as Shielvert Onido, 23, and Peter Andaloy, 33.

Galvez said Onido, a militiaman was arrested around 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Purok Riverside in the village of Santa Lucia, Pagadian City.

Investigation showed that Onido, prior to his arrest, has allegedly pistol-whipped Rico Elis, 17, during a commotion involving his younger brother.

The commotion ensued as one Julius Bernante, 22, allegedly mauled Onido’s younger brother.

Galvez said Onido was arrested by policemen responding the commotion. Seized from him was a loaded handgun.

On the other hand, Andaloy, a guard of the Wedge Wood Security Agency, was arrested around 5 p.m. Sunday in the village of Gulayon, Dipolog City.

She said the policemen were conducting checkpoint when they flagged down a motorcycle driven by Andaloy.

She said Andaloy was arrested after he failed to present documents despite declaring he is a security guard and on the way to report to his post.

She said confiscated from Andaloy was a loaded revolver.

Both Onido and Andaloy were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them.
