2 arrested in Zamboanga anti-drug sting

A watch-listed individual and a newly identified drug suspect were arrested in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, police reported on Friday, June 9, 2023.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office director, identified the arrested watch-listed suspect as Sander Adam, 37, a fish merchant, and the newly identified suspect as Benhar Kalayakan, 23, a construction worker.

Lorenzo said the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 1:22 a.m. Friday, June 9, on Santa Teresita Drive in San Roque village, Zamboanga City.

He said seized from the two suspects were some four grams of suspected shabu packed in eight heat-sealed plastic sachets worth P27,200, a pack of cigarettes and P200 marked money.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects, who were detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
