2 fishermen killed off Zamboanga del Sur town

TWO fishermen were killed by suspected pirates in the high seas of Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the victims as Naem Cabaron, 40, and his 11-year-old son, whose name was not released.

Galvez said the victims were shot and killed around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday off Tarakan village, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur.

Galvez said the victims sustained gunshot wounds and were found dead aboard their motorboat while they were on fishing venture.

She said recovered at the victims' motorboat were an M-16 Armalite rifle, one short magazine with four live ammunition, a caliber .45 pistol with one magazine and four rounds of live ammunition, two dynamites, one liter of gasoline, and fishing paraphernalia. (SunStar Zamboanga)
