2 nabbed in Zamboanga anti-drug stings

THE local police have arrested two persons as the anti-drug operations continue in Zamboanga City, officials announced Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Nonoy Villaraza, 39; and Benhar Sampang, 40.

Duco said Villaraza was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) in a buy-bust operation around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday in Rio Hondo village, Zamboanga City.

Seized from Villaraza were some 2.9 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated worth of P20,000 and P4,000 boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 bill as marked money.

Duco said that Sampang, a newly identified drug personality, was arrested by the ZCPO’s Station 5 operatives in another buy-bust operation around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday in Zone IV village, Zamboanga City.

Recovered from Sampang were some of P2,000 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money.

Duco said formal charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
