TWO people were arrested, while P340,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, the police reported Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

Police Colonel Rexmel Reyes, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspects as Gasir Jumampa, 47, and Mursid Jumampa, 36.

Reyes said the Jumampas were nabbed by operatives of the ZCPO's Station 11 in an anti-drug operation around 8:16 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, in Santa Catalina village.

Recovered from the two were 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000, a belt bag, and 79 pieces of P1,000 bills as boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 as marked money.

Reyes said the two arrested suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them.

The Jumampas were arrested a day after the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) operatives arrested Hassan Jehandal, 52, and seized some 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000.

The RDEU operatives arrested Jehandal in an anti-drug operation Monday, November 22, in Sitio Asinan, Kasanyangan, an adjacent village of Santa Catalina. (SunStar Zamboanga)
