2 NPA rebels surrender

TWO New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered to authorities on Thursday, October 17, in the village of Baranayan in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.

Josie Mandaw Madagpog, 41, and Jessie Gango Madagpog, 31, surrendered around 9 a.m. Thursday through the efforts of the 37th Infantry Battalion troopers.

Colonel Wilbur Mamawag, army’s 603rd Infantry Brigade commander, said the two turned over a Caliber .30 M1 Garand rifle with 15 rounds of ammunition and a shotgun with two ammunition.

“The two were both listed in our Periodic Status Report as members of the West Daguma Front,” Mamawag said.

The two NPA surrenderers are undergoing debriefing and documentation at the headquarters of the Army’s 37th Infantry Battalion headquarters. (SunStar Zamboanga)
