TWO New People’s Army (NPA) rebels have surrendered following series of negotiations initiated by the police in Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte, an official said Thursday, January 9.

Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said the two, identified only as a certain Ka Toy and Ka Dodo, have turned over two handguns consisting of a magnum .357 revolver and a caliber .45 pistol when they surrendered Wednesday, January 8.

Quidilla said they belong to the NPA’s Main Guerrilla Unit (MRGU) headed by a certain Ka Elyong.

He said the two will undergo appropriate intervention by the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) for their new life in the fold of government under the Executive Order No. 70.

Quidilla has commended the police in Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte for the effort they exerted that led to the surrender of the two NPA rebels.

He urged the other NPA rebels to surrender and live the life they truly deserve in the arms of the government. (SunStar Zamboanga)
