THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula has deployed 2,260 personnel to ensure the peaceful and solemn observance of the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days or Undas in the region.

Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis Licup, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said the security deployment will cover cemeteries, bus terminals, airports, seaports and highways.

Licup said there are 192 cemeteries, 28 seaports, 94 bus terminals and four airports within their area of responsibility.

The police director said cops assigned with the mobile companies will conduct roving patrols along the highways to ensure the protection of those going home to visit their departed loved ones.

He added that 1,738 “force multipliers” consisting of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team, Bantay Bayan and Civic Group members will also be deployed.

He advised the public to report to the police assistance desks in cemeteries, columbaria and public transport terminals presence of people acting suspiciously to prevent any untoward incidents.

He reminded the public to refrain from bringing prohibited things such as firearms, bladed weapons, liquors, gambling paraphernalia, videoke and the likes inside the cemeteries. (SunStar Philippines)
