22nd batch of vaccine shipment arrives in Zamboanga

THE number of vaccine doses the Department of Health (DOH)-Zamboanga Peninsula has received from the DOH central office now totaled to 697,270 doses, as a new shipment arrived here Monday, August 2, 2021.

Dr. Augusto Manolo Alpichi, DOH-Zamboanga Peninsula assistant director, said the shipment, which is the 22nd batch, consisted of 84,370 doses -- 83,200 Sinovac and 1,170 Pfizer.

Alpichi said the Sinovac vaccines will be delivered to the different parts of the region except for Pfizer, which needs to be stored in ultra-low freezer.

He said the vaccination of A1 to A5 priority groups will continue unhampered with the arrival of the 22nd batch of vaccine shipment.

The A1 priority groups are workers in frontline health services; A2, senior citizens; A3, persons with comorbidities; A4, frontline personnel in essential sectors, including uniformed personnel; and A5, indigent population.

Alpichi said majority of the vaccines they received from the agency’s central office were Sinovac with a total of 414,400 doses.

He said the doses of other brands they received are as follows: Astrazeneca, 131,400; Janssen, 109,200; Pfizer, 39,270; and Gamaleya or Sputnik V, 3,000. (SunStar Zamboanga)
