3 nabbed in anti-drug stings

THREE drug personalities, including a businessman, were arrested while some P16,500 worth of illegal drugs seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City, the local police said Tuesday, August 13.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) identified the arrested suspects as Nurham Usab, 33; Jimmy Oporto, 45; and Julius Acalal, 29.

The police said Usab, a businessman, was arrested in a drug bust around 6:30 p.m. Monday at Valle Vista Phase 1 in Kasanyangan village.

The police said seized from Usab were some P10,200 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) packed in three heat-sealed plastic sachets and P200 marked money.

Oporto was nabbed in a drug bust around 8 p.m. Monday at Bagong Dalan in Tugbungan village. He yielded some P3,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in four heat-sealed plastic sachets and P200 marked money.

The police said that Acalal was caught in possession of some P3,300 worth of suspected shabu packed in six heat-sealed plastic sachets when arrested around 9:40 p.m. Monday at Elvira Drive in Calarian village.

Also recovered from the suspect was P300 marked money used in the drug bust, the police said.
