FOUR Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) bolted from a detention facility in the town of Roxas, Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Thursday, August 20, 2020.

Police Brigadier General Jesus Cambay, Jr., Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the escapees as the following: Welly Celino Catoy, 23; Robert Quinicar Quinto, 46; Wilfredo Antiquino Espelita, 19; and Roger Barillo Feras.

Cambay said that Catoy and Quinto are charged for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act while Espelita is facing a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Feras for attempted homicide.

Cambay said they managed to escape unnoticed amid the heavy downpour around 1:30 a.m. Thursday by cutting the iron bars of the Roxas Municipal Police Station detention cell with the use of a guitar string.

Cambay said a manhunt was launched aimed to recapture all of the four escapees.

He urged the families and relatives of the escapees to report and surrender them to the nearest police station “so as not to aggravate the situation for, after all, they are not yet guilty but merely held for investigation and trial.”

He said photographs of the four escapees are posted in social media so that everyone who spot their presence shall report to 0938-306-3138 hotline of Roxas Municipal Police Station or 0917-506 20-00, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula Hotline. SunStar Zamboanga)
