SOME 40 Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in R.T. Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay have undergone training on carabao production conducted by the Department of Agriculture (DA) through its Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) program.

Juvy Guatno, DA regional 4K focal person, said the training, which was conducted Thursday, November 25, was aimed to enhance the participants' knowledge and skills in sustainable carabao production.

Guatno said it is also to prepare the 4K beneficiaries for the intervention to be given by the program to improve their productivity.

Guatno said the training will capacitate the 4K members to properly utilize carabaos as a source of income.

She said the participants learned the different components in raising a carabao, such as different breeds and selection, care and management, and the proper utilization of farm animals.

She said Dr. Efren Davin, a technical expert from the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Veterinary Office, served as the training's resource speaker.

Meanwhile, DA Regional Executive Director Rad Donn Cedeño was much delighted for their active involvement of the 4K beneficiaries in the training. (SunStar Zamboanga)
