5 Sibugay farmer's groups get aid from DA

THE Department of Agriculture (DA) announced that five qualified farmer’s associations in Zamboanga Sibugay province received some P811,160 farm equipment from the agency under its corn program.

DA Regional Executive Director Rad Donn Cedeño said the farm equipment were handed over to the qualified recipients Thursday, September 9, in Ipil, the capital town of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Cedeño said the farm equipment consisted of one cassava chipper, one cassava grater with presser, one collapsible dryer, one hammer mill and an open-source pump.

Cedeño said the post-harvest facilities will support the farmer-beneficiaries in their corn farming and cassava production for lesser production costs paving way for a better income.

He said that the beneficiaries of the assistance were Tigpalay farmers association, ChrisLam farmers association and Datu-Tumangong Kalibugan Tribe Rural Improvement Club from the municipality of Tungawan, Kawayan Community Seed Banking Association. from Alicia town, and Titay West Corn Cluster Association from Titay municipality.
