6 nabbed in anti-drug stings

SIX people were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City, the police reported Thursday, July 22.

Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspects as Faisal Hajidulla, 34, boat checker; Anthony Acejas, 20, seafarer; Samuel Ras, 31; Najil Wahab, 37; Engelbert Yack, 49, a driver; and Jomar Ventura, 41, an electrician.

Ylagan said Hajidulla, Acejas, and Ras were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at port area in Zone 4 village, Zamboanga City.

Confiscated from them were four grams of shabu worth P27,200, coin purse, illegal drug paraphernalia, and P500 marked money.

Ylagan said Wahab was arrested in possession of P13,600 worth of shabu and P300 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday in Kasanyangan village, Zamboanga City.

Seized from Yack were P3,600 worth of shabu and P300 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday in Tugbungan village, Zamboanga City, said Ylagan.

He said recovered from Ventura were P6,120 worth of shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in an anti-drug operation around 10 p.m. Wednesday in Putik village, Zamboanga City.

He said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
