Anti-drug stings net P400,000 shabu

POLICE have arrested three people, including a suspected courier, and seized P400,000 worth of illegal drugs in separate drug busts in Zamboanga City, officials said.

The officials identified the arrested suspects as Rudy Frias, 33; Alnadzker Dammang, 29; and Rey-Al Macrohon, 34.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, said Frias, a suspected drug courier, was arrested around 7:10 a.m. Monday, December 16, on Paniran Drive in the village of Zone 4, Zamboanga City.

Frias, who just arrived from Jolo, Sulu, revealed that he is being paid P1,000 for every shipment of illegal drugs.

Frias, a resident of Asturias village in Jolo, was caught in possession of some P300,000 worth of substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and P1,000 marked money.

Seized from Dammang were P75,000 worth of "shabu" and P200 marked money. He was nabbed in a drug bust around 12:45 p.m. Monday in Purok 7, Barangay Recodo, Zamboanga city, said Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer.

Galvez said Macrohon was arrested, also in a drug bust, around 8 p.m. on Sagrada Drive in the village of Camino Nuevo.

Recovered from Macrohon were some P25,000 worth of shabu and P200 marked money.

The suspects were detained, while formal charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
