THE Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Mafar-Barmm) is constructing a P1.99-million small-scale halal feed mill to strengthen Halal Promotion Compliance in the region.

The halal feed mill is being constructed in Muti village, Guindulungan, Maguindanao. It has an area of 150 square meters, capable of storing 500 to 600 sacks of feeds.

Engineer Saidona Lawan, focal person for Mafar Halal Development Program, said the project sought to provide halal feeds to promote halal compliant poultry and fish production.

“We proposed this project to ensure that we can provide and maintain halal compliant products starting from farm to plate,” Lawan said.

Guindulungan Municipal Administrator Datu Harabas Midtimbang expressed his gratitude to Mafar for the continued program in their area, especially on the halal development program.

“This is a big help for us to have a halal feed mill project that will ride in with our vision—to be an Islamic Center Municipality,” Midtimbang said.

The construction of the halal feed mill is expected to be completed within 108 calendar days.

After completion, the facility will be turned over to Sisiman Agriculture Cooperative. (SunStar Zamboanga)
