Caap waives terminal fees for students

THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) has announced that terminal fees for students in all airports owned and operated by Caap will be waived effective August 1.

Socorro Reyes, Zamboanga International Airport manager, said it is pursuant to a memorandum issued by Caap Director General Jim Sydiongco.

Reyes said the waiving of the terminal fees or domestic passenger service charge covers students actively enrolled in pre-school to college, including in trade, arts, technical and vocational schools and training centers.

Not included in the coverage are students of dancing and driving schools, schools of culinary arts and short-term courses of seminar-type and students taking up medicine, law, master's and doctorate degrees and the like based on Sydiongco's memorandum order dated July 26.

Reyes said qualified students who will avail themselves of the exemption shall apply for a student exemption certificate at Malasakit Help Desks located in airports like the Zamboanga International Airport.

She quoted the memorandum that student passengers with flights scheduled starting August 1, 2019 and who tickets were purchased previously within a period of one year may seek for refund of the terminal fee that was integrated into their airline tickets purchased at point of sale or online.
