City issues 9767 business permits, earns P220M

THE Business One Stop Shop (Boss) has officially closed after a month of business registration and renewal operations at the Centro Latino, Zamboanga City.

Benjie Barredo, City Permits and Licensing Division chief, said the Boss received 11,203 applications and issued 9,767 business permits during its operating period from January 2 to January 31.

Barredo said that they have so far generated P220 million in business taxes during the operation of the Boss.

Aimed to help ensure the ease of doing business in this city, the Boss is rolled out every January for the swift registration and renewal of business licenses.

Meanwehile, the city government on Monday, February 4, has recognized top taxpayers--individual and corporate--who paid their 2019 business taxes in full.

Certificates of recognition were conferred to the top five single category taxpayers--Lily Chua (Oro Wonder Drug); Esmael Tan (E & L Fishing Enterprises); Rey Chan Cheong (Allied Motor Enterprises); Carolina Yu (NCY Marketing); and Antonia Alvarez Tan (Aleson Enterprises).

The top five corporate taxpayers are as follows: Mercury Drug Corporation; Freemont Foods Corporation (Jollibee); Emcor Incorporated; Avon Cosmetics; and, Permex Producer and Exporter Corp. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
