A COUPLE was arrested, while P2.7 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday, March 1.

Senior Inspector Shellamie Chang, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, identified the arrested couple as Entasil Kamdon, 40, a businessman; and his wife, Meriam, 37.

Chang said the couple was arrested in a drug bust around 12:05 a.m. Friday in front of an elementary school in the village of Talon-Talon.

Confiscated from the suspects' possession were P2.7 million worth of "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride) packed in eight heat-sealed plastic sachets, and three bundles of boodle money with one genuine P1,000 bill placed on top as marked money.

Chang said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are set to be filed against them.

The arrest of the couple was among the biggest accomplishments of the ZCPO in the campaign against illegal drugs since January this year in Zamboanga City.

Chang said the couple was nabbed by joint operatives of the Police Station 6 and 904th Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-9. (SunStar Philippines)
