Dawlah Islamiya member killed, another captured

A MEMBER of the Dawlah Islamiyah (DI)-Maguindanao Group was killed while another was captured following clash with government troops in North Cotabato, the military reported Thursday, June 2, 2022.

Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario, Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), said that the clash happened Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Purok 7 in Dunguan village, M’lang, North Cotabato.

Rosario identified the slain DI-Maguindanao member as Monir Lintukan. Captured was Randy Karon, both members of the DI-Maguindanao Group.

Rosario said the clash ensued as the joint forces of the 602nd Infantry Brigade and Police Regional Office-Central Mindanao chanced upon the DI-Maguindanao Group led by Almoben Camen Sebod alias Polok while on law enforcement operation against the suspects behind the recent bombings in Parang, Maguindanao; Koronadal City, South Cotabato, and; Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.

Rosario said that the group of Sebod is involved in extortion and scam activities.

He said that after the firefight, the troops the remains of Lintukan and assorted war materials including one 5.56-millimeter (mm) M-16 rifle, one long magazine of M-16 with 41 rounds cartridge of calober 5.56-mm ball, one bandolier, and one improvised explosive device.
